What offline location sharing means for field teams

If a product only sends messages now and then without internet, it is closer to an offline communication tool. YuanShan is solving a different problem: how to keep understanding whether the team is still safe while moving through difficult terrain.

The core problem

A leader does not mainly need to know whether a message arrived. They need to know where a person is, how far they drifted, when the last trusted report happened, and whether action should begin now.

YuanShan’s approach

  • Prepare offline maps, the team, the channel, and the radio setup before departure.
  • Default to radar for direction, distance, alerts, and link state while moving.
  • Use the map view for tracks, routes, elevation, and last trusted position.
  • Close the loop with SOS, ACK, and event logging.
